The Fernie Arts Co-op is an artist run shop located at 572 2nd Avenue, Fernie's historic main street.
100% of proceeds go back to our Artists and the Co-op.
History of the Co-op
The Fernie Arts Co-op was formed in 2001 by a group of Fernie Artists in need of a retail outlet to share and sell their wares.
In 2005, the Artists moved into our current location on 2nd Avenue in the historical Minifies building in downtown Fernie.
In 2006, the organization gained BC Co-Operative Status and became governed by the Co-operative Act with a rotating board of member elected Directors.
As an artist-run space, Member Artists work as store attendants giving our customers an opportunity to meet the maker, providing insight on creative process and local knowledge about the landscapes featured.
The gallery has grown professionally over the years to be locally renowned as the premiere outlet for local Fernie art.
In the spring of 2019, the Co-op shut down briefly to install new slat walls and lighting, giving it a much needed upgrade. Don’t worry, our floors are still as old and squeaky as ever!
Today, our shop features over 40 local Artists.
Paintings, photography, pottery, woodwork, handmade jewellery, leather-work, textile art, hand-made soaps, glassworks, multi-media works, and more are on display seven days a week.
Stop by between 10am and 6pm to shop local art and meet the Artist on duty.
